Public Health Specialist - Role Profile

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Public Health Team in Plymouth. We would like to appoint a highly motivated and committed Public Health Specialist to join this busy team. We are looking for someone with a track record of managing and implementing complex programmes, commissioning effective services and leading collaborative partnerships.

The team is part of an integrated Directorate that also includes, the Public Protection, Civil Protection and Bereavement Services. The Directorate works with a range of departments and organisations in the strategic development and delivery of public health responses and services.

The post holder will provide public health leadership for key areas of work including sexual health, health protection and immunisation programmes. They will also be part of the Council’sCOVID-19 response and support the delivery of the Local Outbreak Management Plan. They will lead the planning and implementation of partnership programmes and initiatives to reduce inequalities and promote health and wellbeing across the city. The role requires a good understanding of public health principles and frameworks and knowledge of relevant policy and practice. The post holder will be confident in critically appraising complex information and engaging and communicating with diverse organisations and communities.

You will report to a Public Health Consultant and will have the opportunity to work closely with other colleagues in their interfacing portfolios. Work on wider thematic areas and or projects will be required. Remote working is currently in operation and it is envisaged that flexible working will be in place going forward.
