The Box’s mission is to be a social space for art, people and ideas with learning, participation and artistic excellence at its heart. We are a new hybrid cultural organisation – part museum, gallery and archive.

This dynamic senior archival role within The Box team is central to our plans to develop an integrated approach to collections management and the delivery of The Box’s ambitious programme. From collections and people management to collaborating with colleagues and artists to realise engaging new exhibitions, commissions, and displays, this role is fast-paced and exciting.

We’re looking for an experienced archivist who will be an ambassador for the archive collections at The Box. You will have in depth knowledge of one area of that collection – either paper, media and / or digital archives – as well as having a broader understanding of archives and what it takes to run a successful service. Collaboration and team working are key, along with an appetite to innovate and develop the accessibility of the archive. You’ll be supported by a wider Collections team who are skilled and ambitious. We want to use The Box’s collections to generate pride, promote public participation and become nationally known and locally loved. Following more than three years of critically acclaimed programming, we are hungry to grow our audiences and reputation and reimagine what a new hybrid cultural organisation can be in the 21st century. So, if you are full of ideas and skilled at sharing them, we would love to hear from you.
