Natural Infrastructure Officer - role profile

At Plymouth City Council, we are investing in our natural environment and within the Environmental Planning division the Green Estate team is responsible for promoting, protecting and enhancing Plymouth’s natural infrastructure in a manner that delivers maximum benefits for people and nature.  

The primary role of the team is to develop and keep under review the overall management strategies for the city’s green estate in order to realise maximum benefits for the environment and health as well as deliver financially sustainable models of management. The Green Estates team leads on delivering the Plan for Trees as well as other exciting and innovative environmental/community based projects and programmes - including the Plymouth Tree Challenge,  EU funded Green Minds, Future Parks Accelerator programme.    

The post will be responsible for supporting the development, delivery and evaluation of projects within the team, in particular the Plymouth Tree Challenge and Green Minds which both have ambitious tree planting programmes across the city.  

We are looking for an individual with experience of working with operations teams, communities and organisations across sectors to facilitate successful projects that improve natural spaces in an inclusive and sustainable manner.  We require the individual to show experience of managing projects and budgets, community engagement and capacity building, partnership working, effective planning, organising and communication skills with a strong team working ethos.
