How would you like to take the next step in your career by playing a key role in Plymouth City Council’s multi-award winning planning service? You’ll be joining a high performing and proactive department responsible for delivering our ambitious vision for Plymouth set out in our Joint Local Plan.

We are looking for a pro-active Planning Officer to join our Development Management Team. The post holder will be based within an Area Planning Team and act as a Planning Enforcement Officer. Planning Enforcement is integral to maintaining public confidence in the planning system. This is a hugely varied and exciting role where you will be responsible for managing a busy caseload of enforcement investigations, negotiating with property owners, determining planning applications, progressing breaches of planning control with formal action, defending the Council at appeal and initiating prosecution proceedings.

About you:
You will need to be very organised and have excellent customer service skills. You will need an appropriate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline, or be studying towards this. Enforcement experience is desirable but not essential. 

This role is suitable for flexible working subject to the needs of the service
