Technical Expert - Role Profile

*Current Plymouth City Council apprentices wishing to apply for this role must contact the recruiting manager to ensure that they are able to support them to satisfactorily complete their NVQ qualification.  Apprentices must also have 6 months continuous service and satisfactorily completed their probationary period before applying.  

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Technical Expert to work within the Deputyship Team based in the Service Centre at Ballard House.

The Service Centre currently consists of the Deputyship Team, Digital Team, Income Recovery, Business Operations, Business Support, Business Rates, Client Financial Services, Recruitment and Local Land Charges.

This job involves working with vulnerable adults, following recognised procedures and using initiative to deliver an excellent, customer focused front line service. The work may involve responding independently to unexpected problems and situations when dealing with clients and there will be a requirement to interpret individual, complex circumstances and make decisions within the boundaries and guidance of current legislation. The role requires excellent communication skills as contact from clients and professionals is frequent throughout the day. Attention to detail is critical, and you must have the ability to work to tight deadlines as part of a team.

The post holder will:
• Actively take ownership of a caseload of clients, resolving issues and seeing them through to resolution.
• Advise and guide clients/professionals clearly and concisely.
• Understand individual client requirements and demonstrate the ability to deal with all types of client enquiries in person, by telephone, email or by written correspondence.
• Maintain awareness of changes in legislation and policy and gain a full understanding of systems and procedures.
• Liaison with external agencies and internal departments as necessary.
• Have good knowledge of welfare benefits and care/support needs met by Adult’s Social Care
• Promote best practice and highlight inefficiencies.
• Visiting is an essential part of this role. The post holder will therefore require access to a car and have a full, clean driving licence.
• Be required to complete a DBS check.
