Residential Support Worker Role Profile
Are

skills, the enhancement of social inclusion

focusing on achieving best outcomes for individuals?
Colwill
Lodge Short Breaks Service provides quality planned overnight short breaks
stays and
emergency
crisis support/ temporary accommodation for adults with learning disabilities
and
their
families living in Plymouth and its surrounding areas.
The
essential requirements for this post include; experience and understanding of
people with a learning disability, who may have a range of complex health and
social care support needs.
The
successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the need for
dignity,
respect,
compassion and sensitivity when supporting our customers.
The job involves
working
from
instruction and will also involve minor decisions making and working from your
own
initiative.
In
addition the successful candidates will be responsible in supporting customers
to undertake
social
activities and access community facilities of their choice and support the
promotion and
development
of daily independent living skills and support positive risk taking.
There
is also a requirement to support the personal care needs of customers and
ensure they
are
met in accordance with care plans, specialist assessments, personal
requirements and
preferences
and assist with the administration of medicines.
The
post also includes undertaking some administrative tasks, including developing
and
updating
internal care plans, accurately recording daily observations; daily profiles
and
contributing
to the completion of risk assessments and developing and sustaining
professional
relationships
with carers and relevant health and social care professionals.
The
successful candidate should also have a good understanding of adults
safeguarding. This
includes
who is at risk, different forms of abuse and when to report concerns.
Effective
communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
The
success
candidates must have the ability to work as part of a team and actively
contribute to a
positive
work culture.
The
post involves the ability to work a flexible rota; including shift working
evenings, split shifts,
weekends
and bank holidays to meet the needs of our customers.
The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to access work related training

to continuous professional development.
