Exhibitions Technician - role profile

Want to be part of the largest and most exciting cultural project in the UK to open in 2020? And part of the unique lifestyle of living in Devon and Cornwall? The Box, Plymouth is a £40m. + museum, contemporary art gallery and secure home for six archives and collections, which is being built adjacent to the University of Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art. Plymouth is at the heart of the national Mayflower 400 commemorations and The Box will be its flagship legacy project. With funding secured from the City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, The Box aspires to deliver an on going programme of international significance. It needs also to be a commercial success and to be a much loved destination which attracts frequent repeat visits.

Exhibition Technician

To provide technical support for the successful realisation of The Box’s programme for the permanent gallery displays and temporary exhibitions programme, art installations and for events and activities held at The Box and Historic Properties.

To act as technical liaison with artists and curators, offering knowledge of site, technical expertise and good communication skills

To support the preparation, movement and installation of specific artworks and objects across The Box site, applying sound judgement and providing detailed advice and guidance as required.

To provide specialist AV and technical support across The Box programmes and operations.
