CS/836 - Team Manager
£43,662 - £48,497

Midland House Permanent 37 hours per week Grade J (£43,662 to £48,497)

Team Manager - Role Profile

An opportunity for a team manager has arisen within Plymouth City Council Services for Children, Young People and Families. We are looking for a team manager for our Plymouth Referral Assessment Service (PRAS). This post will provide leadership and support to a team of social workers who work with children to assess their needs in a timely way.

We rarely have team manager vacancies, with an excellent internal career development pathway ensuring that our talent is developed and retained. Our social worker vacancy is consistently below the national average.

This could be the opportunity for you to join a forward thinking, compact and co-located service in the centre of Britain’s Ocean City, situated between Cornwall, Dartmoor and the stunning coastal and rural environment of South Devon

To be the right person to join our vision for the future, you will be/have been a successful team manager in a children’s social work setting. Alternatively you will be an advanced/senior practitioner with significant front line experience in delivering high quality assessments and care planning, and the ambition to develop yourself into an outstanding team manager. We are a learning organisation so in either case, we will support your development and will sponsor you to attend the training you need to develop your skills.

We have an outstanding training and development offer for our new managers, covering practice knowledge, technical/managerial skills, leadership and the provision of a personal mentor. This is available on request by e mailing SWChildren.Staffing@plymouth.gov.uk. We believe this will help ensure that you support practitioners to deliver excellence for children and families. We are confident this will also prepare you for the Government’s national accreditation aspirations for all practice supervisors to become accredited by 2020.

You will share our belief in supporting social workers through example, emotionally intelligent supervision and our commitment to the highest standards of practice. You will be committed to developing staff at all levels to have the skills they need to be exceptional practitioners and the resilience to thrive in a challenging and rewarding career. You will join us in making a difference, for children and young people in the city, for our workforce and for our partners.

You will receive a competitive salary and a generous annual leave entitlement. A pilot relocation package is available of up to £8000 (terms and conditions apply). (Pilot may be subject to change).

Please note that we are an Equal Opportunities Employer. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check and successful registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Enhanced Check + DBS Children’s Barred List & DBS Adult’s Barred List (previously known as CRB Check)

If you are interested in finding out more details, please contact our Social Work Recruitment and Development Manager who can arrange an informal discussion or assist you with any queries you may have. E mail: SWChildren.Staffing@plymouth.gov.uk or telephone: 01752 307685 / 01752 306753

Closing date: Tuesday 25 June 2019
