Economic Development Officer Role Profile

In the Economy, Enterprise and Employment Service all of our posts provide an excellent opportunity to make your mark on the future of Plymouth’s economy and how we deliver the very best experiences for our residents, visitors and potential investors.     

This post is situated in the Inclusive Economy team whose aim is to work across sectors and council departments to make the economy more inclusive. 

Workstreams include: 

·       Social Investment to secure funding for the City’s organisations and identify property assets that can be used for community benefit   

·       Business Relationship Programme working with key organisations and businesses in the social enterprise, voluntary and community, and community owned sectors, and    

·       Inclusive Growth – delivering on the Resurgam Charter  to help businesses to ‘build back better’ https://www.resurgam.uk/resurgam-charter     

The team has recently been awarded almost £950,000 from the Interreg France, England Channel programme for a 2 year project (to March 2023) to support individuals and businesses in Plymouth and the post holder may be required in their role to support the new team appointed to deliver this project. 
 
A typical day would involve  

·       Researching information for funding applications and internal business cases 

·       Compiling information and advice for organisations who have aspirations to take leases on council properties as Community Asset Transfers 

·       Supporting members of the City’s Inclusive Growth Group of Plymouth Growth board, identifying case studies of good practice and understanding where action needs to be focussed
