CS/1168 - Senior Youth Support Worker
£22,558 - £25,729

Permanent 37 hours per week JNC 11-14 £22,558 - £25,729 per annum

Senior Youth Support Worker - Role profile

The Participation Team is situated within the Academy of Social Work Plymouth and works directly with young people to enable their voice to be heard and to influence service delivery across Plymouth City Council’s Children Young People and Families Service and the Plymouth Safeguarding Children’s Partnership.

‘Our vision is to put children and young people at the heart of practice by engaging them within a framework of participation, consultation and involvement which enables their views, voices and experiences to shape and improve service delivery. By doing this we also aim to support their personal development and understanding of their own personal journeys.’

We are looking for a dynamic, creative and skilled Senior Youth Support Worker who is passionate and motivated to hear and understand young people’s journeys and facilitate their voices being heard in ways that positively impacts on wider service delivery.

The successful candidate will be joining a team that runs a successful Youth Cabinet and is well linked to services in which “Children are meaningfully and actively involved in consultation about the development of services and co-production of initiatives” (Ofsted 2020)

A knowledge of the impact of trauma on young people, child protection processes and care proceedings would be a distinct advantage.

The post is available from September and is likely to include a mixture of virtual and appropriately risk assessed face to face work, in line with Government guidance for working with young people at the time of appointments.

The role is suitable for job share and will consider this if there are a number of suitable candidates.

The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Enhanced Check + DBS Children’s Barred List & DBS Adult’s Barred List (previously known as CRB Check)

For more information or an informal discussion, please contact Stuart Hogg, Participation Practice Manager on 01752 306973 or Sarah Harris Senior Professional Youth Worker on 01752 308839.
