£20,852 - £23,484

Windsor House 1x - Permanent & 2x - Fixed Term 12 months 37 hours per week Grade D (£20,852 to £23,484) per annum

N450 Environmental Enforcement Officer - Role Profile

Plymouth is an exciting vibrant waterfront city with access to areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The Environmental Protection team is currently expanding and we are recruiting to a number of positions in the Environmental Protection team.

The team is busy, with high workloads but is rewarding in that it makes a positive contribution to the local environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for these staff to assist in a council priority of keeping streets and open spaces clean.

We are looking for team members who are passionate about our city, and relish the opportunity to support our residents, can work independently but also be part of a wider team with good interpersonal and written communicative skills.

Officers will be expected to patrol areas of the city including parks and open spaces to gather evidence of environmental offences. Some daytime weekend working will be required on a rota basis.

Activities include investigations and observations of littering, fly tipping and other environmental crimes including dog control. Officers will be expected to take relevant enforcement action including issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices.

Officers will need excellent communication skills, good attention to detail to record facts accurately and may be required on occasions to attend court and give evidence.

Officers will be expected to contribute to the rota with responsibility for collecting stray dogs. Appropriate training will be given for the post holder but if you are passionate about helping keep our streets clean and tackling behaviours of littering or other environmental crime then this is the job for you!

This role is not suitable for flexible working subject to the needs of the service for the permanent roles.

For an informal discussion relating to the post please contact Nicola Horne on 01752 304556 or Lindsay McClean on 01752 304112.
