Plymouth City Council is consistently regarded as one of the best performing planning authorities in the Country with a reputation for innovation and delivery. This has been recognised nationally with the team winning many accolades and awards, including the RTPI Silver Jubilee Cup for a third time this year.

Having recently adopted the Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan we are at the forefront of driving forward the City’s ambitious growth and regeneration agenda. The vision is for Plymouth to become one of Europe’s most vibrant waterfront cities.

An opportunity has arisen within the Strategic Growth Team for a highly skilled and motivated urban designer to help us to deliver this vision and to manage an exciting, varied and ambitious workload. The Strategic Growth Team is a multi-disciplinary team of planners, urban designers and historic environment specialists. It has a clear remit to drive forward key strategic sites and programmes of development from inception, through planning, to delivery on the ground. The team also provides the urban design and historic environment service for the City, working collaboratively to secure better designed and higher quality developments and places that are built to last and that respect and enhance the city’s finest heritage assets.
