Transport & Allowance Assistant - Role Profile

*In order to apply for this vacancy you must have 12 weeks continuous service by the closing date of the advert

* If you are applying internally for a secondment, you must be employed on a permanent contract working continuously for 12 weeks or more.  If you are currently on probation, you will be expected to complete your probationary service in the new role.

Your current line manager must also be in agreement with your application (please refer to the Secondment policy for further information).   

An opportunity has arisen in the Transport & Allowances Team to appoint a full time Transport Assistant for a fixed period of 12 months.

The post holder will primarily undertake eligibility checks for free school meals (FSM) thus supporting schools to enable them to be confident that they are fulfilling their statutory responsibilities in relation to the provision of FSM; the post holder will also provide day to day administrative support to the team including processing school transport drivers DBS checks and issuing school driver ID badges.
 
There are currently more than 7000 eligible FSM students and the service provides transport for approximately 800 SEND pupils each day on 200 taxis and minibuses.

This is an extremely busy service and you will need to be a well organised person with excellent communication and IT skills with the ability to work effectively in a variety of situations with conflicting priorities. The office requires cover from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm and therefore the person appointed will be required to work from 7.00 am on a rota basis during school term time.
