Service Manager Role Profile

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Plymouth City Council Children, Young People and Families Service for a dedicated Service Manager for our Fostering Service.

 

This post will provide dedicated leadership to and service improvement of our fostering service with a view to enabling more of our children in care to live in foster placements provided by Plymouth. To be the right person to deliver our vision for the future, you will be/have been a successful manager in a children’s social work setting with experience of managing a regulated service.

 

Ideally you will have expertise of managing high quality fostering services and in leading transformational change and service improvement. You will be a creative and performance driven leader with the highest aspirations for our children in care.

 

This is a permanent appointment and the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering significant service improvement including a significant service restructure to better enable the service to deliver both foster carer recruitment and assessment as well as support to carers alongside the assessment and support of our Special Guardians and Connected Carers.

 

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for improved performance management and quality assurance to clarify and achieve the level of service expected. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring clear improvement targets are met, including achieving a significant increase in the number of foster carers ‘Fostering for Plymouth’.

 

As well as transforming our approach to recruitment and assessment of carers you will improve the way we support and develop our foster carers to deliver the outcomes we want for our children in care. You will be committed to developing staff at all levels to have the skills they need to be exceptional practitioners and the resilience to thrive in a challenging and rewarding career.

You must have a degree level or equivalent in Social Work e.g. CQSW, DipSW.
