Do you want to work for a local authority whose vision is to be one of Europe’s most vibrant waterfront cities, where an outstanding quality of life is enjoyed by everyone?  

 

Plymouth City Council’s Legal team is looking to strengthen its Children’s team with the appointment of a Lawyer.  

 

You will need to be an enthusiastic Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX with an interest in public law child care work and associated social care advice.  The post will suit someone with experience of this area of work whether in the public sector or private sector with relevant advocacy experience although applications from newly qualified lawyers or lawyers wishing to transfer from another contentious area of law will be considered for this role.  

 

You will deliver expert legal support to client services on complex child protection matters by telephone or at meetings without prior knowledge of the facts.  You will need to demonstrate professionalism as well as excellent communication and drafting skills together with a flexible and positive approach and an ability to work under pressure.   

 

You will be a team player, building excellent relationships within the immediate team and client departments, as well as having the ability to work on your own.  

 

Some flexible/remote working will be possible but the post holders will be required to attend Court in person as necessary.  

 

We offer 25 days annual leave rising to 30 days after five years’ service.
