Ballard House Permanent 37 hours per week Grade H/I (£33,782 - £43,857) per annum*

N830 - Planning Officer - role profile

How would you like to take the next step in your carrier playing a key role in a multi-award winning planning service?

Who we are: Plymouth City Council planning service is a fast paced but friendly service where joint working and team work is key to success. The role is in the Strategic Development Team, the City Council’s highly experienced team charged with driving forward the City’s ambitious growth agenda through partnership working and proactive planning.

As one of the more senior planning officers in the team you will coordinate the planning process and the delivery of some of the City’s most important development projects. This includes the opportunity to work on such projects as City Centre regeneration schemes, new mixed use communities, coordinating delivery of new major Commercial Centre in Derriford and waterfront sites.

About you: Given the scope of these projects, we are looking for a candidate with extensive experience on strategic and major projects with a proactive and delivery minded approach to your work. Good project management skills and an excellent approach to partnership working and customer service through the planning system will also be required. While the ideal candidate will lead projects through the entire planning process, we are particularly interested in candidates who can help navigate schemes through the Development Management process ensuring high quality outcomes and schemes which can be delivered.

Membership, or eligibility for membership, of the RTPI or an appropriate professional institute is essential for this positions.

For more information on the role or an informal discussion, please contact Alistair Wagstaff on 01752 398259 or Alistair.wagstaff@plymouth.gov.uk
