Planning Officer - role profile

We are recruiting a new Planning Officer to our City Planning Team.

The City Planning Team is a multi-award winning team, at the forefront of two of Plymouth City Council’s three RTPI Silver Jubilee Cups and with regional, national and international recognition for innovation and its creative approaches to urban planning.

The team works closely with the Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon Joint Local Planning team to deliver the city-specific elements of the planning strategy for the South West Devon area. It leads on the city’s single strategic plan (the Plymouth Plan), city planning policies and guidance, neighbourhood planning initiatives, community engagement, digital innovation and data science, research and monitoring, and plays an active role working with other teams to bring the city’s plans and strategies to reality.  

The Planning Officer post is part of a wider multi-disciplinary team and can be expected to be involved in a wide spectrum of city planning work, including leading on planning policy initiatives.   

To apply for this role, you should have an appropriate degree-level qualification and be a member of a relevant professional institute, or be willing to work towards such membership within 6 months of the start date.
