Transport and Allowances Assistant Role Profile

An opportunity has arisen in the Transport & Allowances Team to appoint 2 full time Transport and Allowances Assistants.

The post holders will be jointly responsible for staff cover (Passenger Assistants), free school meal administration, route planning and finance.

This will include processing time sheets, applying changes to staff contracted hours, assisting with organising staff cover, undertaking eligibility checks for free school meals (FSM), route planning and monitoring, checking and processing of invoices/orders/internal recharges and processing of school transport payments and credit notes; the post holders will also provide day to day administrative support to the team, including dealing with a large volumes of telephone calls.

There are currently more than 8500 eligible FSM students and the service arranges and manages transport for approximately 800 SEND pupils each day on 200 taxis and minibuses.

This is an extremely busy service and you will need to be a well organised person with excellent communication and IT skills with the ability to work effectively in a variety of situations with conflicting priorities.

The office requires cover from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm and therefore the successful candidates will be required to work from 7.00 am on a rota basis during school term time.

The post is usually based at Windsor House, however, the team are currently working from home and the office as required.
