Ceremonies Officer Role Profile

 

Do you want to make a difference? Plymouth Registration Service are expanding their Ceremonies team. We require reliable, flexible and trustworthy individuals to undertake statutory and non-statutory ceremonies.

 

A calm and confident approach is needed for a role that requires technical learning as well as excellent customer service skills.  

 

You will be required to conduct or register statutory ceremonies within Plymouth. You must be able to follow strict procedures and comply with Registration Acts as well as dealing with large groups of people.  

 

You will also be expected to conduct non-statutory ceremonies such as naming ceremonies, renewal of vows and commitment ceremonies.  

 

You must hold a full valid driving licence and have a vehicle available for travel in the Plymouth area.

 

 Neat legible handwriting, good communication and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and public speaking skills are a necessary part of the role. Ideally, you will have front line experience of dealing with the public.

 

There is a requirement for excellent ICT skills as you will be required to update statutory ceremonies on the national database system (RON), in addition to producing electronic certificates.   

 

You will be providing a service to people from all backgrounds in emotional situations, you must feel comfortable and be assertive to provide a professional service whilst always displaying empathy.  

A flexible approach is essential, as we require officers to not only be available weekends but also on weekdays, evenings and bank/public holidays, in particular Monday evenings and Friday during the day on a rota basis.

The ceremony work is seasonal with the majority of ceremonies taking place between April- September.

 

We require staff to be flexible and hours will fluctuate over the year to meet the needs of the service.
