Highways Inspector (Safety) - role profile

Plymouth City Council, as the Highway Authority for Plymouth, has a statutory duty to maintain the public highway. The post of Highways Inspector (Safety) directly contributes to fulfilling this obligation.

The role involves undertaking statutory inspections on the public highway in line with the Highways Act 1980, the code of practice and other relevant legislation. To assess and record defects identified or reported. To gather evidence and report all unsafe or illegal works carried out on the network and carry out follow up inspections.

The ideal candidate will be someone with enthusiasm and a willingness to work as a part of a team. You will be fully supported with a training programme including the opportunity to gain City & Guilds qualifications in highway safety inspections.
