Children’s Occupational Therapist Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Services Windsor House, Tavistock Road, Plymouth, PL6 5UF, Permanent 30hrs  H Grade

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to become part of a dynamic and forward thinking SEND Occupational Therapy Team.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, who are committed to the provision of high quality care and the continuing development of children’s services. Some experience of working with children, young people and their families with complex physical needs & developmental conditions would be preferable, although not essential.

 

We are dedicated in providing a high quality, child centred service and within this post you will work in a variety of settings (including the home, school and nursery), carry a varied caseload working with a range of physical, behavioural, social and emotional presentations that impact upon daily function and care needs. You will carry out specialist assessments; provide intervention, advice and signposting to children and families within the City of Plymouth.

 

Other key responsibilities include:

 

- Management of posture, positioning and seating needs.

- Support with major and minor adaptions.

- Recommendation & provision of specialist equipment.

- Management of manual handling needs and daily living routines.

- Support with housing needs.

 

We are able to offer the support of an experienced and established Occupational Therapy Team; professional mentorship, supervision and structured appraisal systems; access to ‘In Service Training’ and continuing professional development training sessions; integrated and profession specific team meetings.
