City Farm and Animal Manager Apprentice - role profile
Are you passionate about the natural environment, farming and helping to make Plymouth a greener city? Would you like to join an energetic and lively farm team and get involved in delivering the Derriford Community Park project alongside Plymouth City Council and Duchy College?
Plymouth City Council are looking for an Apprentice with energy, enthusiasm and initiative to join the Natural Infrastructure team. The job supports the management and care of the animals and livestock at the farm and deliver the education programme to local schoolchildren.
The job will involve providing animal care, welfare and record keeping, education activities, community and volunteer events, communications and the monitoring and reporting of these activities.
The individual will need to demonstrate:
- Experience of caring for a range of animals and dealing with the public;
- Excellent organisational skills and record keeping;
- Willingness to learn and attend training events;
- Ability to work as part of a team and to work towards deadlines;
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of using PC applications including Microsoft Office.
- Interest in the natural environment and use of social media.
Funding & Assessments: Please be aware that if you are successful in your application you will be required to sit a functional skills assessment with the apprenticeship training provider. Your current and previous qualifications will also be checked to ensure that you are eligible for course funding.
