Role Profile - Engagement & Campaign Officer


Are you passionate about social justice and connection to nature? Can you inspire and motivate others with strong communication skills and a creative mind? Do you want to make a real difference?   

Plymouth City Council’s (PCC) Environment Planning Service are seeking a self-motivated, highly organised and dynamic individual to support our Green Minds partnership.

Green Minds will be working with communities and organisations to develop nature-based solutions to land management that support environmental/social values, co-stewardship and connection to nature. We need a communications specialist to help us with a range of partnership focused marketing, campaign and communication activities.  

Green Minds is funded by the European Regional Development Fund’s Urban Innovative Actions programme.  This EU initiative provides urban areas with resources to test innovative solutions to address urban challenges, see how these work in practice and respond to the complexity of real life. It is led by PCC’s Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Department together with Public Health, and in partnership with the University of Plymouth, Real Ideas Organisation, Plymouth College of Art, Devon Wildlife Trust, The Data Place and the National Trust.

The primary focus will be working with Green Minds on: 
 
·       Campaigns to promote connection to nature and inspire behaviour change
·       Production of press releases, targeted publicity, publications & newsletters, and marketing materials in line with an evaluated communications plan
·       Coordination of social media and website content
·       Event coordination and engagement activities to connect with diverse audience – face to face and through digital engagement
 ·       Developing new collaborations and associated funding opportunities  

As well as experience in the above, you will need the following:

·       An appropriate qualification in environmental or communications related disciplines plus relevant experience
·       A proven ability to develop and sustain good partner relationships
·       Knowledge and passion about issues surrounding rewilding, connection to nature and community participation
·       Understanding of organisations with a social or environment purpose
