Planning Officer - role profile

How would you like to take the next step in your career playing a key role in a multi-award winning planning service?  

Who we are: Plymouth City Council planning service is a fast paced but friendly service where joint working and team work is key to success. We are looking for pro-active Planning Officers to join our Development Management Team. The post holder/s will be based within an Area Planning Team and act as case officer for planning applications, dependant on experience this could range from householder and minor planning applications up to significant major planning applications. 

About you: You will need to be very organised and have excellent customer service skills. You will need an appropriate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline, or be studying towards or have a willingness to study towards this. Experience of dealing with Planning applications or planning enforcement is essential although for an entry level position training will be provided. 

Membership, or eligibility for membership, of the RTPI or an appropriate professional institute is essential for senior positions.
