N814 Transport Planning Officer - Role Profile

*If you are applying internally for a secondment, you must be employed on a permanent contract working continuously for 12 weeks or more.  If you are currently on probation, you will be expected to complete your probationary service in the new role. Your current line manager must also be in agreement with your application (please refer to the Secondment policy for further information).

Plymouth City Council currently have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated transport professional to join our busy Strategic Transport Team, who will share our passion in shaping and influencing the future of Plymouth’s transport network.

Our vision is to become one of Europe’s most vibrant waterfront cities and through the passion and determination of our politicians, management team and staff we will make a difference for the city.

The Authority already has a five year transport capital programme valued in excess of £140m and you would be key part of the team and leading on delivering these projects, developing them from feasibility towards construction.

The Authority has a “Pipeline” of capital schemes also valued over £300m which it needs to bring forward over the next five to ten years. You will have the opportunity to work proactively with councillors, directors, other senior stakeholders and colleagues to deliver key transport infrastructure essential to the growth of the city. You will support the team by undertaking a varied duties to develop, secure funding and delivery major transport infrastructure improvements. You will have the opportunity to work within and gain experience of project management, commissioning studies, preparing business cases and funding bids, project planning, risks management as well as get involved in the construction and delivery of large scale schemes.
