Are you a vibrant, passionate chef who wants to ensure a healthy attitude to food for the next generation? We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and committed chef to work with us at CATERed to help transform school meals in Plymouth. You need to have the willingness and ability to promote healthy eating, and strive to develop the service.

 

CATERed is a new company that has been formed by 67 Plymouth schools and the Council. CATERed was created to ensure that children and young people in schools across the City could have access to great tasting, high quality food whatever their background or school they attend.

 

CATERed enables all schools to have an affordable and sustainable school meals service without impacting on other school budgets and also for Headteachers and Governors to support the service but for it to be delivered by people best placed to do that – experts in school food delivery. 

 

You will be required to prepare meals from fresh ingredients, working to food costing’s and menus which meet the Nutrient and Food Standards. You will also be responsible for completing the necessary paperwork, placing orders with suppliers and managing food stocks. 

 

You will manage a small team of staff and will be responsible for staff appraisals and ensuring that staffing issues are dealt with in a timely and professional manner. Previous supervisory experience is desirable but not essential. You will be required to undertake training both on and off site on a regular basis. Working for CATERed , you will become a key figure in the school community and liaise with the head teacher, governors and other school based staff to help create a whole school approach to healthy eating and a "Healthy School" environment by working with pupils and developing educational food and cooking projects.
