Transport Planning Assistant - Role profile

* If you are applying internally for a secondment, you must be employed on a permanent contract working continuously for 12 weeks or more.  If you are currently on probation, you will be expected to complete your probationary service in the new role. If you are applying for this role as an internal candidate as a secondment,  your current line manager must also be in agreement with your application (please refer to the Secondment policy for further information).  

We are looking for highly motivated and organised person to join the Technical Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Team with the Development Management Unit.

To maintain and update the Highway Register, assist with the preparation and administration of Section 278 and Section 38 Agreements, Stopping-Up and Diversion of Highway Orders. Assist n the preparation of reports, planning briefs and related strategies as necessary in order to continuously improve service delivery and performance in the Development Management Team.

Essential:
  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A – C) including Maths and English or equivalent qualification

Desirable:
  • Full driving licence
  • 2 ‘A’ level or a Transport related qualification
  • Reasonable knowledge of transport and planning legislation
  • Knowledge of key transport regulations and sources of information
  • Knowledge of Government policy relating to transport, its management and objective
  • Understanding of development management legislation, procedures and practice in order to work efficiently and without supervision on routine non-application related correspondence and all minor applications.
  • Understanding of the inter-relationships between statutory plans, planning briefs,supplementary planning guidance and other strategies, concepts and principles used in the determining of planning applications
  • Experience of Microsoft software including Word, Excel and Access.
