Would you like to join an energetic and lively team implementing recreational management measures for the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries European Marine Site?

Plymouth City Council is coordinating the delivery of the 'European Marine Site Managing Recreational Impacts Programme' which includes baseline monitoring, assessment, education and awareness programmes for those recreation activities which are known to have the potential to impact on the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries European Marine Site.  http://www.plymouth-mpa.uk/

We are looking for someone to help with the delivery of this exciting 3 year project that will also  link into 2 other EU funded projects: Life Recreation ReMEDIES https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/life-recreation-remedies-project and  EU Interreg (Channel) Preventing Plastic Pollution https://preventingplasticpollution.com/

Key Aims for the EMS Recreational Impacts Programme are: 
·        To raise awareness and encourage behaviour change of visitors to Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries EMS
·        Implement, manage and evaluate projects to better manage visitors and provide secure habitats ·        Implement improved management systems and monitoring

Duties will include:
-        Assisting with the development of a robust baseline monitoring system for the marine environment
-        Working with the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum to deliver sustainable management of the tidal waters.
-        Developing plans for Advanced Mooring Systems and assisting with seagrass restoration schemes as part of ReMEDIES
-        Implementing plans to tackle marine waste, developing circular economies for end of life facilities and engage with angling communities as part of the PPP project
-        Delivering specific actions plans for those recreational activities known to have the highest potential for damaging the sensitive species and features of the EMS (to include angling, crab tiling, sailing, diving)
-        Assisting with the delivery of a shared GIS system for use by all licensing authorities
-        Delivering a programme of information boards, codes of conduct, local user maps  and multimedia messages on the marine environment.
-        Networking and liaising with stakeholders, businesses and volunteers within the EMS
-        Event and workshop planning and delivery, presentations and public speaking

The individual will need to demonstrate:
-        An appropriate qualification in the natural environment and a passion for the marine environment -        Knowledge and understanding of both national and local marine environmental legislation and guidance 
-        Ability to prepare and update monitoring reports and assist with management of external grants and budgets.
-        Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and work to set deadlines.
-        Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications         
-        Project management knowledge and community engagement experience
-        Ability to work as part of a team;
-        Good communication skills and knowledge of using PC applications including Microsoft Office and GIS mapping systems and social media channels.
