CS/1368 Transport Officer (Procurement and Route Reviews)
£23,541 to £25,991

Windsor House Fixed term contract/Secondment* to cover maternity leave 37 hours per week Grade E (£23,541 to £25,991)

Transport Officer (Procurement and Route Reviews) Role Profile

* If you are applying internally for a secondment, you must be employed on a permanent contract working continuously for 12 weeks or more.  If you are currently on probation, you will be expected to complete your probationary service in the new role.  Your current line manager must also be in agreement with your application (please refer to the Secondment policy for further information)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the SEND School Transport Team, to appoint a full time Transport Officer for approximately 9 -12 months to cover for maternity leave.

A good knowledge of the City of Plymouth road network or previous experience in a transport related background would be an advantage as the successful candidate will be identifying suitable transport provision and planning routes taking into account the needs of students between the ages of 4-25, who have special educational needs, ensuring efficient operation of the service.  Our transport is procured through a dynamic purchasing system. The home to school service provides transport for approximately 800 young people with special needs on approximately 200 taxi/minibus routes daily during term time.

This is an extremely busy service so if you are a great organiser, have excellent communication and prioritising skills and the ability to problem solve this could be the job for you. You also need the ability to work effectively in a variety of situations with conflicting priorities – no 2 days are ever the same! You will be required to work under your own initiative but will be supported by the Transport Support Manager.  Experience of working/dealing with members of the public, a transport related background and working within an environment dealing with administrative support would be advantageous and proficiency in Microsoft Office software is a must.

The office requires cover from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and therefore the person appointed will be required to work from 7.00 am on a rota basis during school term time
