Low Carbon City Officer Role Profile

Plymouth City Council has ambitious targets to make the City and the Council net zero by 2030.To help us on this exciting journey we are looking for a new member of our low carbon team who is enthusiastic, passionate about the environment, and committed to tackling climate change. This is a new role that can help design the route to net zero through supporting the Council to deliver and further develop it’s Climate Emergency Action Plans.

Providing a central point of contact, the role will co-ordinate the production of both an annual city-wide Climate Emergency Action Plan, and annual internal Corporate Carbon Reduction Plan. To achieve this the role will be instrumental in raising the profile of the Climate Emergency across within the Council and at the City wide level. Utilising partnership skills, the role will build meaningful and long lasting cross sector relationships to drive the scale of change needed to secure radical reductions in greenhouse gases across the city. The role will also require project management skills to provide structure and co-ordination in the creation of the annual plans.
