Profile for this vacancy is for Natural Infrastructure Officer Grade (Grade E-F) which has been designed to cover all environmental
jobs within the Environment Planning Division which covers everything from
running allotments, managing trees and all forms of environmental management.

plastic pollution in Plymouth?
PCC is a key partner in the ‘Preventing
Plastic Pollution’ project, a €14m Interreg programme involving 18 partners from
France and England, which aims to remove and prevent plastic pollution in
Plymouth as one of its seven pilot areas.
We have an exciting
opportunity for a full time Project Officer who can pick up and run with the
delivery of the programme to its completion in June 2023.
We are looking for someone
who is organised and enthusiastic with excellent project management skills. You
will be working closely with PPP project partners, local businesses, communities
and stakeholders through a variety of networks, events and external contracts. Ideally,
you will be familiar with Microsoft office, have a
working knowledge of budgets and reporting and be confident
with social media and general communications.
Job Description
The Preventing Plastic Pollution seeks to
understand and reduce the impacts of plastic pollution in the marine
environment. By looking at the catchment from source to sea, the project will
identify and target hotspots for plastic, embed behaviour change in local
communities and businesses, and implement effective solutions and alternatives.
We are looking for someone to help with the continued delivery of
this project in Plymouth. Duties will involve:
· Co-ordinating
existing contracts and devising and delivering new projects and contracts for
remaining deliverables
· Co-ordinating
community events and engaging effectively with communities, recreational users,
businesses and schools to support the plastic-free agenda
· Working
with partners to monitor, evaluate and report on deliverables
· Working with
partners to develop frameworks for best practice
· Raising
awareness and promoting the project to ensure local involvement and support
through successful comms plans and social media
· Assisting
with the management of the project, liaising partners, attending work package
and working group meetings, record keeping and report writing.
The individual will need to demonstrate:

Basic project management skills Experience of supporting complex partnership and working with a
variety of stakeholders from different sectors
·
Ability to prioritise and manage the individual’s work load
according to set deadlines
·
Ability to work as part of a team
·
Good communication skills and knowledge of using PC applications
including Microsoft Office
·
An appropriate qualification, or working towards an appropriate
qualification
·
An interest in environmental issues
You will part of the Projects and Partnerships Team within Environment
Planning Service of Plymouth City Council; a dynamic and energetic team of over
40 staff who deliver environmental projects across the city, oversee the
management of the green estate, lead on low carbon projects, deliver
collaborative marine management, undertake environmental planning and provide
environmental input into the planning system.
