Operations Manager - Arboriculture - Role profile

We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Operations Manager to join and lead the Arboriculture team in PCC’s Street Scene department.

The team has the responsibility to promote, manage and enhance Plymouth City Council’s tree estate in a manner that delivers maximum benefits for people and nature.

The post will be part of the Plan for Trees Investment Programme, ensuring that the value and condition of the urban forest is maintained and enhanced for the city.

This role is responsible for planning, leading and developing the team to deliver a high standard of arboriculture practices across the city, covering all aspects of tree management, ensuring that all regulations concerning practices and the use of specialist equipment are met, engaging positively and safeguarding the public and stakeholders at all times and the production of an Ash-Dieback Action Plan.

Key duties will include the operational management of a team of arborists and tree officers to manage defects and inspect the trees across the city under PCC ownership, liaising within Street Scene, other Council departments and external stakeholders; supporting the development and implementation of a new digital asset management system, budget monitoring and delivering a quality service to members and communities, ensuring that the PCC tree estate plays a significant role in responding to the climate emergency and enabling the sustainable growth of the City.

The role will be responsible for working in line with the Council’s operational activities and in accordance with environmental legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice and Health and Safety Guidelines.
