N268n Youth Offending Team Worker - Role Profile
Plymouth Youth Offending Team (YOS) have 2 full time, fixed term posts over the next 2 years for Youth Offending Support Workers, to engage effectively with young people and their families, who have challenging behaviour and are at risk of offending and/or reoffending. We also support victims of crime to ensure that their views are taken into account. The vacancy is to work in five service areas, intensive supervision and surveillance (ISS); victim advocacy; diversion, resettlement and reparation.
YOT is an enthusiastic and committed multi-agency team and we are looking for adaptable, highly motivated and focused Youth Offending Support Workers, who are able to deliver a robust and equitable service.
You will need to be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and have an enthusiasm to work with victims, children, young people and their families. You will have the ability to work and deliver effective interventions, aimed at reducing offending behaviour by tackling the risk factors that are known to increase the likelihood of offending and social exclusion. A key aspect of the role is to increase public confidence in the prevention of crime and the delivery of Youth Justice. The post-holder will work in partnership with a range of agencies to ensure the YOTs objectives are met.
Successful applicants will need to be able to work on their own initiative and have the skills and aptitude to work across all the five service areas and deliver an agreed action plan, work as part of a team, engage at all levels with excellent communications skills including verbal and I.T. They will have the ability to work to tight deadlines and a commitment to delivering a high quality service in line with nationally monitored standards. Also, it is desirable that the post holder holds a full driving licence.
Post holders will be committed to anti-discriminatory practice, challenge prejudices and promote inclusion.
